Impression Kit Guide
Tips and Tricks
- Test the tray first; make sure it fits in your mouth
- Putty hardens fast – 30 seconds or less. Knead quickly into a consistent color, coil it and fit it in the tray
- Press the tray into your teeth – don’t bite
- Do not move the tray while the impression is setting. If done correctly, there should be a tight suction between teeth and tray when removing
- Breathe through your nose while the impression is setting
- Pull the tray straight up or down to remove

2 Test your Trays
You have 2 top trays with an arch and two bottom trays with a space for your tongue. Put them in your mouth to make sure they fit. You should be able to close your mouth with the tray inside. It’s okay if taking your impression feels awkward.
If the trays do not fit properly, we can get you another size! Please contact Daybreak Customer Support.

3 Mix the Putty
Prepare a timer for 30 seconds. Take one “Dark” putty container and one “Light” container – mix to prep your first tray. Prepare only one tray at a time Mix quickly until the putty is one solid color, between 20 and 30 seconds.

4 Prep your Tray
Roll the putty into a four-inch coil and place it in the tray. Make sure the putty fills the entire tray.

5 Impression time!
Prepare a timer for 3.5 minutes. Then, place the tray with putty in your mouth, centered over your teeth, and press the tray into your teeth with your fingers until the putty meets your gum line. Leave the tray there for 3.5 minutes. Do not wiggle or move it during this time.
You want the putty to hit your gumline and all along your arch, including complete coverage of your back molars. Do not press so hard that your teeth hit the plastic tray. Use continued pressure for 3.5 minutes.

6 Remove Impressions
Pull your impression tray directly down without touching any of the putty. Carefully remove the tray by pulling straight down (upper tray) or straight up (lower tray) until free from your teeth. Do not wiggle the tray while removing it. Set the tray aside.
Good impressions have clear gumlines and teeth impressions. Do not touch the impression material after removal.
7 Repeat Steps 3 - 6
Repeat steps 3 through 6 using all of the trays and all of the putty. You’ll need 2 impressions of your upper teeth and 2 impressions of your lower teeth.
